AN ITALIAN EXPERIENCE - Places to Visit
Antique & Food Markets
Antique and food markets in Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio
On any day of the week, you can find unique items and the freshest food at outdoor markets all over Italy. We've listed many options in the three provinces closest to us.

If you are able to attend any of these markets more than once, you will have the opportunity to experience getting to know the individual vendors. Treasures can be found, both in the way of valuable artifacts as well as just-out-of-the-earth fresh fruits and vegetables.

An attempt at a friendly conversation with a seller can work wonders, for your pocketbook as well as your soul. Wanting to talk about the freshness of the produce or the age of the antique is what makes these markets so characteristic. You'll notice many vendors will rather talk to their friends than bargain, but if you strike up a conversation, you'll see eyes light up and a new friendship begin.

Here is a partial calendar of outdoor markets in Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. Keep in mind that special outdoor markets are almost always held on the occasion of town fairs and festivals.
